Being Caught Off Guard
October 19th, 2007 Posted in Uncategorized
Life is full of numerous little “surprises.” Things like getting yelled at by your boss, getting a parking ticket, misplacing the remote and losing your wallet are just a few of them. While these little disasters probably won’t keep you from blogging, bigger ones such as getting shipped to Africa for business might. When this happens, you need to be prepared.
Always Think Ahead
As a blogger, you always need to think ahead. Issues can arise at any time during the day, and you need to be ready to deal with them. The common approach to dealing with emergencies involves posts specifically written for them. Bloggers will typically have some posts saved on their server for times when they are unable to post. All they need to do is hit a button and their out of the danger zone. Don’t you wish you had written those extra few posts?
Your Visitors Won’t Forgive and Forget
Don’t be surprised to hear me say that most of your visitors could care less that you’re having a business conference back in Africa. While they might cut you some slack for the first few days, after a week it begins to get serious. You owe it to your visitors to update your blog on a regular basis. When you constantly fail to fulfill this obligation, don’t expect them to come back.
Save The Excuses For Yourself
There is absolutely no excuse for not being prepared in the semi-likely event of a blogging emergency. A few hours of laziness does not constitute a massive loss of blog traffic, and therefore income. Take some time today to write up some posts and save yourself a massive headache in the future. If you take some preventative action now, you will surely be thanking yourself in the future.
