This weekend M.I. underwent some major changes. We have moved from the Blogger platform over to Wordpress, and are now on our own hosting! If there is anything to learn from our little move, it is this:

Blogger is not ideal for long-term money making

While Blogger is absolutely wonderful for first time bloggers just starting out, it is not an ideal choice for those who want to make real money online. If you’re on Blogger now and your site is beginning to pick up some steam, it might be a good idea to move over to a different platform. Don’t be afraid to invest some money. You’ll be thanking yourself later.

Buy a domain from the get-go

Even if you are on a free blogging platform, such as Blogger, it is crucial that you buy a domain from the start. This way, any link-building you do won’t go to vain if you plan on moving your site. This wasn’t an issue for this blog, as SEO activity was very minimal in anticipation for our move.

Invest early

The problem with free-blogging platforms is that they eliminate any and all risks. This means that if you decide to ditch your blog, you won’t lose anything. This is a BIG problem. To get your blog to excel, you need loads of motivation. So invest $50, $100, or even $200. Then you can blog knowing you risk losing the money. This will work wonders motivation-wise.
