It was officially confirmed today that Agloco’s developers have pulled the plug on Agloco. Suprised? I’m not. What do you expect to happen when you try to revive an ill-conceived concept?
Getting Paid To Surf Is Not Conceptually Sound
People have a very difficult time understanding why pay-to-surf ventures go under the water so quickly. For one, they’re typically backed by young and ambitious individuals who have no idea what they’re getting themselves into. If you have at least a fragment of knowledge pertaining to internet marketing, you know that there’s no money in pay-to-surf programs.
Pay-to-surf programs assume that people participating in the program will willingly click their advertiser’s ads, which are usually rotated on a toolbar. This is a stupid thing to assume. People who surf to make an easy buck online aren’t interested in spending money. They want to accumulate as much money as possible with minimal effort. Herein lies the problem. Where does the pay-to-surf program get money to pay it’s surfers? From advertisers? Think again.
Why Agloco Failed
Agloco failed because it simply couldn’t pay its members for their surfing contributions (a direct result of it being a pay-to-surf program). This is not the first time Agloco’s gone under the water. A few years ago Agloco, at that time called AllAdvantage, went out of business as a result of a lack of fanancial capital. How odd that it is once again taking the plunge for the exact same reason.
What’s To Learn From Agloco’s Demise
If there’s anything to learn from Agloco’s downfall it’s this: Don’t be a sheep. When word first began to spread about AllAdvantage’s reincarnation, everyone began to go wild. People were referring people to the program like mad - hoping to build up the number of members in their network. All that effort sadly gone to waste.
When the next wave of mass hysteria hits the blogosphere, make sure you do your homework before joining in on the crowd. We’ve all seen what happens when we blindly follow others, as the case with both Agloco and BlogRush. Take your time and do your research - this will ultimately pay off in the end.
