Misconceptions About Black Hat SEO

December 7th, 2007 Posted in Uncategorized

People often turn to black hat SEO as a means of earning a quick and easy buck – or so they think. This often comes as a result of failure in employing white methods to make money online. Why some think that black hat SEO is very simple to grasp and utilize is beyond my understanding. However, once you put yourself in the shoes of a naïve money hungry person, the reasons become increasingly clear.

A Few Clicks Send Money Your Way

The first impression people get when hearing about black hat SEO is that it’s very simple and instantly produces results. This is not the case. Black hatters are constantly at work building new sites to compensate for those banned by the search engines and learning to use new software. Despite popular belief, entering the black hat world does not guarantee you instant results. You still need to learn about how search engines work, and how you can manipulate them. While software does have a significant impact on how efficient black hatters are, there is currently no one-step software solution to automate black hat activities.

Black Hat SEO Is Future Proof

While black hat SEO is earning many people nice sums of money, it may not be the same case in a few years. Search engines are continuing to grow smarter in their battle to help people find the most relevant information. Thus, techniques which are currently utilized by black hatters will grow increasingly ineffective to the point where black hatters will only be able to earn very small amounts of money.

Behind A Black Hat, There Is Almost Always A White Hat

It should come as no surprise to you that almost all black hat SEOs own at least one white hat site. Why you may ask? Because they know there’s long-term money to be made in white hat SEO. When black hat SEO becomes a thing of the past, white hat SEO will continue moving forward. As such, it’s a wise decision to own at least one white hat site.

In Conclusion

To wrap up this post, I would like to once again reiterate that black hat SEO is no walk in the park. While less work might be involved in it when compared to white hat SEO, the rewards are anything but everlasting.
