Dick Masterson: Lunatic Or Genius?
November 12th, 2007 Posted in NewsIf anybody has been keeping up with Shoemoney’s blog for the past week, chances are that you’ve heard at least something about male chauvinist Dick Masterson. What exactly is a male chauvinist? Basically, an individual who believes males are better than women. You might be wondering what talk of a male supremisist is doing on this blog. Read on to find out.
Who Is This Guy
At first glance, Dick Masterson appears to be an average male. This is until you ask yourself what he’s doing on the Dr. Phil show alongside a roundup of loons. Apparently, Dick doesn’t think too fondly of women. Dont believe me? Look at the excerpt below from the “About” page of his site:
1. To expose the clumsy feminist dogma of equality — which reeks of desperation and failure at its core, and explore many theories and thoughts on the nature of men being better than women — which they are. Unequivocally.
If you haven’t guessed, this is one of the goals of his site. While I certainly don’t agree with his first goal, or any of them for that matter, they certainly are attention grabbers.
What A Lunatic!!?
Initial impressions of both Dick and his site might lead you to call him a lunatic, but I wouldn’t be so quick to judge. You see, there’s always that possibility that he’s a fake. What would make me say that? For one, he made his appearance on Dr. Phil sporting a pair of sunglasses and a moustache. True, he might be doing this to avoid getting harassed by women, but then again, anyone who has the guts to make such bold statments should have the guts to back them with a face.
A Genius In Disguise
As I’ve said above, there is a definte chance that Dick is an all out fake. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was. If this is the case, I have to somewhat applaud his appearance on Dr. Phil and those oh-so-bold statements. The bottom-line is that Dick generated buzz which produced it’s desired effect: getting word around. Dick’s little appearance on tv and on Shoemoney’s blog did wonder’s in regard to his blog’s traffic, backlinks, and his overall recognition.
The Disturbing Part
Unfortunately, there is a disturbing aspect to this whole situation: it has exposed a number of real life male-supremisists. If you look at Dick’s blog (menarebetterthanwomen.com), you will see that some of the male commentators have been arguing back and forth with female ones trying to defend Dick’s claims. While this is disturbing, we have to remember that we live in a world filled to the brim with loons. We have to tolerate them, at least for now.
